Caroline's works are autobiographical and depict stories within stories. Building on her work as a Graphic Designer, Caroline layers colours and forms to create her own visual language.
Working in bursts, Caroline paints sheets of colour, drying, cutting and assembling. She uses collage to superimpose work upon work, deepening the textural aesthetic and layering meaning. New works are often made using remanents of older works, making something new from what is left. Forms and shapes are repeated throughout the body of work forming sequential rhythms and pay attention to the subtlety of line, surface and tone. Collage works inform Caroline's paintings and the application of paint on canvas allows her the opportunity to explore the juxtaposition of neutrality and the simplest of mark making processes allowing the abstract in colour and form to speak.
